Time: 8-hour race- 9:00am (check-in opens at 7:00am)

           3-hour race- 1:00pm (check-in opens at 10:00am)


Location: Wausau, Wisconsin, within 10 miles of Rib Mountain State Park.  (exact location to be announced the week before the race)

Coed Elite (3 or 4 person coed team)

Open Elite (3 or 4 person same-sex team)

2-Person Coed

3-hour Distances*:

Bike: ~15k (9 miles)

Trek: ~5k (3 miles)

Paddle: ~5k (3 miles)

8-hour Distances*:

Bike: ~40k (25 miles)

Trek: ~18k (11 miles)

Paddle: ~10k (6 miles)

Entry Fees:

Race fees include T-shirt, post-race food and drink, maps, canoes, paddles and PFDs, prizes and give-a-ways, plus facility and land use fees.  8-hour racers: if you do not have a yearly trail pass for Nine Mile Recreation Area, you will need to purchase a day pass for $4 at the event.  8-hour racers will also need to purchase a USARA 1-day membership ($8) if you do not already have a yearly membership ($35). Most, if not all Wisconsin Adventure Racing Series events this year will be part of USARA, so it may be cost effective to purchase a yearly membership which includes several other nice benefits.  Net proceeds from the event will benefit the UW-Marathon County Foundation Student Scholarship Fund.


3-hour:

Early: $75/person

Regular: $90/person

Late: $100/person


8-Hour:

Early: $90/person

Regular: $105/person

Late: $115/person


Early registration ends March 1st

Regular registration ends April 15th

Late registration ends May 21st (shirts not guaranteed after May 1st)

Payment must be received by the above dates


Refund Policy:

If your team is unable to race, you may sell your entry to another team.  Due to the costs associated with planning and hosting this event, we cannot offer refunds.  We will happily help you find additional teammates if someone on your team cannot make the race.


3-Hour race schedule:

10:30am              Optional AR 101 meeting for new racers

12:00pm              Pre-race meeting for all racers at Race HQ (teams must be ready to start)

1:00pm                RACE START!

5:00pm                Course closes

5:00-6:30pm        Food and Awards

Wisconsin Adventure Racing Series:

This race is part of the Wisconsin Adventure Racing Series, Wisconsin’s premier race series featuring ten different adventure races throughout the state and cash prizes totaling over $2,000.  There is no fee to join the series, simply race any of the ten events and you’ll be automatically signed up.  The more races your team competes in, the better chance you’ll have of taking home prizes.  Compete in either the coed or open division in teams of 2, 3, or 4, and see how your team ranks against others in the midwest.


USARA Point Series and National Championship Qualifier:

Both the 3-hour & 8-hour Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge races are part of the United States Adventure Racing Association Points Series.  The 8-hour race is a USARA National Championship Qualifier.  The top coed elite team in the 8-hour race will receive a $400 sponsorship toward entry into the National Championship, to be held this year in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania on September 21-23, 2017, plus “Regional Champion” jackets for each member of the winning coed elite team.  In addition, the top 4 teams in both the coed elite and open elite divisions of the 8-hour race will qualify for the USARA National Championship.


Badger State Games:

This race is part of the Badger State Summer Games.  The top teams of each division in both races will receive Badger State Games medals.


Lodging:

There are numerous hotels in the Rib Mountain and Wausau area within 10 miles of the race start.
